Build Your Monkey Army

The objective in Bloons Tower Defense 5 is simple: stop every Bloon from making it to the end of the track. Place monkey towers in strategic locations and let them attack the Bloons as they travel through the map.

Every successful pop helps generate the money you need to expand your defense. Spend your cash on additional towers or upgrade the monkeys already on the battlefield.

BTD5 gives you considerably more choices than the earlier Bloons games, so building an effective defense is about combining towers rather than simply buying the most expensive option.

Discover Powerful Towers

Bloons TD 5 includes classic towers from previous games alongside several new additions. The Flash version features towers such as the Dart Monkey, Tack Shooter, Sniper Monkey, Boomerang Thrower, Ninja Monkey, Bomb Tower, Ice Tower, Monkey Buccaneer, Monkey Ace, Mortar Tower, Super Monkey, Monkey Village, and Spike Factory.

The Sniper Monkey can attack Bloons from anywhere on the map, while the Ninja Monkey can detect Camo Bloons. Other towers specialize in explosive attacks, freezing, area damage, water-based defense, or powerful late-game attacks.

Experiment with different combinations to find a setup that works for each track.

Upgrade Your Defenses

One of the major improvements in BTD5 is its deeper tower upgrade system. Towers have multiple upgrade paths, allowing you to specialize them for different roles.

Upgrades can improve attack speed, range, popping power, projectile behavior, or special abilities. Some high-level upgrades also give towers powerful abilities that can be activated at the right moment during a difficult wave.

Choosing when to upgrade is just as important as choosing where to place your towers. Spending everything immediately can leave you without enough money for an important upgrade later.

Watch Out for Special Bloons

BTD5 introduces additional Bloon types and gives existing Bloons new challenges. Camo Bloons can remain hidden from towers that cannot detect them, while Regrowth Bloons can regenerate layers if they are not dealt with quickly.

Later rounds also introduce powerful MOAB-class enemies, including the Z.O.M.G., which requires a strong and carefully planned defense.

Different Bloons require different solutions, so a balanced collection of towers is essential.

Master Different Maps

The tracks in Bloons Tower Defense 5 are more varied than in previous games. Some maps contain tunnels, moving sections, multiple paths, and other unusual features that affect how you should position your towers.

Learning each track can make a huge difference. Look for locations where towers have a long line of sight, can cover several sections of the path, or can take advantage of special map features.

Try Different Game Modes

The original BTD5 browser game offers more than standard tower defense. Depending on the version and content available, players can find modes and challenges including Apopalypse, Deflation, Sandbox, and Special Missions, alongside the normal track-based gameplay.

These modes change the way you manage your resources and build your defenses. Deflation Mode, for example, requires you to work with a fixed budget rather than relying on normal income, making every purchase important.

Use Special Agents and Abilities

BTD5 also expands the series with Special Agents, giving you additional ways to strengthen your defense. The Flash version eventually included nine Special Agents alongside its regular tower roster.

Special abilities can also turn the tide during difficult rounds. Save powerful abilities for moments when your normal defenses are struggling rather than activating them without a plan.
