The Snake game is a classic video game that originated in the 1970s. It was inspired by an earlier arcade game called Blockade, which was released in 1976. Blockade allowed multiple players to control lines that grew in length as they moved around the screen, and the objective was to avoid running into the walls or the other players' lines.

In 1978, a version of Blockade was released by Atari for their home console, the Atari 2600, under the name "Surround." This game allowed two players to control snake-like characters and compete to be the last one remaining on the screen.
