Shockwave Amiga game

"ShockWave" combines action and strategy elements, placing the player in command of a vast prison complex, essentially functioning as a medium-sized country. However, the tranquility is shattered when alien forces launch relentless attacks, spanning ten waves of escalating intensity.

The game unfolds in two distinct phases: strategy and action. In the strategy phase, played out on a turn-based map, the player oversees four key areas of the colony: mountains for mining resources, seas for oil extraction, jungles housing defensive forces, and deserts with factories for weapon upgrades. Using resources generated from mining and oil extraction, the player constructs additional structures within the colony zones, enhancing their productivity. Each turn, the aliens advance their invasion, diminishing sector productivity based on enemy occupation percentage.

During each round, the player can initiate a personal counter-attack in one of the four zones. Armed with chosen weapons, the player must eliminate a specified number of alien ships before fuel (essentially acting as a time limit) is depleted. Monitoring shield levels is crucial, as sustaining damage from enemies or environmental hazards leads to loss of shields, with a single death resulting in instant game over. Periodically, players engage in secret missions involving maneuvering an explosive-equipped drone through obstacle courses to destroy enemy bases. Action sequences are presented in third-person perspective, with the camera directly behind the spacecraft. Control during these sequences is entirely via mouse cursor, directing both weapon targeting and ship navigation. The game also features a dynamic time-of-day cycle, transitioning between morning, afternoon, evening, and night during action sequences, which impacts visuals.
