Krypton Egg Amiga game

I recently stumbled upon this Breakout game after years of exploring the depths of WHDload, and let me tell you, it's been an absolute gem of a find! Someone actually took the trouble to program a new Breakout game! And the guys from the French software label "Hitsoft" took the matter quite seriously, as evidenced by several new features and a comfortable editor. From the moment I started playing, I was hooked. The action is relentless, with a "Balls To The Wall" intensity that keeps you on your toes throughout. Only: With such a merged game principle, no amount of great ideas can breathe life into it anymore.

What struck me immediately were the fantastic sound effects—Bing! Thooom! Bong! They're just so delightfully crazy, adding an extra layer of excitement to the gameplay. Although graphics and sound don't need to hide, although the pretty pastel colors often make it quite difficult to distinguish individual objects in the required haste. Sometimes the mouse query leaves a little to be desired.

But what really sets this game apart are the original touches. I mean, where else can you find a Breakout game that morphs into an R-Type style experience towards the end? It's unexpected twists like these that keep the gameplay fresh and engaging. Well, that's how you yawn from level to level, take note that the opponents now look like fish, crabs, or other creatures, and otherwise wait for the battle with the giant monster, which is announced every ten frames.

Sure, at its core, it's still a Breakout clone, but trust me when I say it's nothing like your ordinary pong breakout. There are sharks, monsters, and a paddle that moves not just sideways but also up, adding a whole new dimension to the classic formula. As a crowning conclusion, the unnecessary background story promises the secret of eternal life - but since that also means that I have to complete 60 sleep-inducing levels for it, I'm not sure if I really want to know ...

Overall, I'd give this game a solid 9.5/10. It's addictive, it's fun, and it's a refreshing take on a classic genre. Whether you're a fan of Breakout games or just looking for something new and exciting to play, I highly recommend giving this one a shot.
