The Big Ko (SRG) Commodore 64 game

THE BIG KO
Just when you thought you had seen it all, a new contender emerges, eager to test their skills against the champ who took down Barry McGuigan.

This promising newcomer hails from Tynesoft, bringing a fresh perspective that even makes Frank Bruno look twice. With a personality as vibrant as the Blackwall Tunnel, he boldly claims, "Unique boxing simulation that stretches your computer to the limits. Supersize sprites, superb animation, and a touch of humor... A game you won't want to miss."

KNOCK OUT
This guy is oozing confidence; let's see what he's got.

The Big KO introduces a cast of characters with entertaining names like Heap Big Nose (ha!), Groovy Man (ho, ho), and Cheap 'N Nasty (hee, hee, hee). After a good laugh, you can choose your own quirky name for a pre-fight warm-up.

Then comes the presentation: "In the left corner, Killer Scolding. Best punch, left to the head; second best... and so on." Each boxer gets a rating; you're the 'Unknown Tom,' Heap Big Nose is 'the pits,' and Strongman Joe is 'easy-peasy.' All accompanied by the soothing sound of waves breaking on a distant shore—the programmer's attempt to capture the excitement of the ringside crowd.

The audience may be absent during the fight, but the graphics are clean—just a flat blue background, white canvas, and ropes. The 'supersize sprites' are big, bold, and unique; the 'superb animation' adds a touch of humor.

The bell rings, the two fighters approach each other, and start throwing punches. While you only have a choice of four moves and no dodge, duck, or blocking options, the action is intense. If things get heated, step out of reach. After three rounds, if a knockout doesn't happen (and it's still exciting when it does), get ready for an announcement about your stellar performance, accompanied by a triumphant fanfare. If you've won, you'll receive the code word to unlock the next thrilling boxer.

There's a fantastic two-player option, where a friend can take on the role of Heap Big Nose, Strongman Joe, or any character, and the two of you can engage in endless bouts. Options include switching off the sound, the presentation sequence, and the message below the ring (which is supposed to...). Get ready for a gaming experience that's as enjoyable as it is entertaining!
