A Classic. One of the 3 big great breakout games besides Arkanoid and Traz. For many retro-gamers even the Nr.1. Like in the two other games, you have to destroy all bricks on the screen to get to higher level. This can be done by reflecting a silver-ball with a bat. But if you miss the ball, so that it disappears from the screen, your ´Life`-amount will be reduced. Here in Krakout, you can choose on which side of the screen, your bat will be placed. So, instead of Arkanoid, you have to protect the side borders.

Like in every good breakout-games, there are a lot of bonus features, hidden under the colorful surface of some bricks. To activate them, you have to hit a brick once, to see what kind of bonus you will get, and after hitting the brick once again, you will get this helpful tools, like a bigger bat, a laser cannon, a double bat, e.g. Another positive point of this game, is a setup-screen. After starting a new game or pressing space during the game you can get to it. Here you can change some settings, like the side of the bat, how many lifes you have, the ´alien´mode and some other things. For a detailed explanation of the changes that can be done on this side and a complete list of the ´Bonus-Bricks´, i recommend the Remember version of Krakout. But back to the game: like in every other ´outbreaker´ there are a lot of different lifeforms, that are flying over the gaming-arena. In the first levels, you can see a mask, a robot, an ufo where little bees come out, that can be destroyed easily with the silver-ball. But in the higher levels, you will meet some creatures that mustn´t hit the ball. There is a evil fly, that eats the ball and freeze the bat. This will also happen, if you get a purple ball. The blue ball will eat your bat. so be careful, not every lifeform in the higher level is harmless.

The design of Krakout is more ´cute´ than the other breakout games, so it has a different atmosphere like Arkanoid. But this doesn´t decrease the fun-factor. A lot of interesting effects are included, so you will be surprised about the aliens and their effect. Also there is a cheat-mode included: enter ´(C)´ in the highscore list, and you will get 24 lives. Every breakout-fan will know this game, every gamer should know it. You won´t be disappointed.V
