Fly Into Battle

Ollo keeps its gameplay focused on classic arcade shooting. Your spaceship moves through a vertically scrolling playfield while enemy craft appear around you. Use your laser to destroy approaching enemies before they can collide with your ship.

The controls are straightforward, but surviving becomes more difficult as the game progresses. Enemy encounters require quick reactions and careful positioning, especially when several ships appear at once.

Destroy Enemy Ships

The main objective in Ollo is to eliminate enough enemy ships to complete each level. Once you have destroyed the required number of enemies, you can move on to the next stage, where the opposition becomes tougher.

Every collision matters. Coming into contact with an enemy ship costs a life, so simply firing constantly is not enough. You also need to keep your spaceship out of danger while continuing to attack.

Classic C64 Shoot-'Em-Up Gameplay

Ollo is a good example of the compact arcade-style games associated with the Commodore 64. The game combines vertical scrolling, spaceship combat, enemy waves, and increasingly challenging stages into a straightforward action experience.

Its sci-fi setting and shooter mechanics make it a natural fit for fans of classic C64 shoot-'em-ups. The original game is also distinct from Ollo II: The Final Conflict, which uses a different multi-scrolling design and expands the gameplay with additional weapon types and ground targets.

Watch Your Lives

Ollo rewards players who can balance attacking with avoiding enemy ships. Destroying enemies allows you to advance, but losing all of your lives ends the game. As later levels become more challenging, staying mobile becomes just as important as aiming your laser accurately.
