Ball-Blasta – Commodore 64 Game

Play Ball-Blasta Online

Ball-Blasta is a Commodore 64 Breakout-style game published by Zeppelin Games in 1988. The basic idea is familiar: control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, keep the ball in play and use it to smash the blocks above.

But Ball-Blasta adds more to the classic Breakout formula. Destroyed blocks can release money that falls toward the bottom of the screen, which you need to catch with your paddle. The money can then be spent on upgrades between levels, including a larger paddle, a shield and the ability to play with three balls at once.

The playfield also contains flying alien enemies that interfere with the ball and make it harder to clear the screen. Keeping the ball under control while dealing with these hazards adds another layer to the traditional Breakout gameplay.

Instructions

61 Levels of Breakout Action

Ball-Blasta features 61 levels, giving the game considerably more depth than a simple single-screen Breakout clone. The layouts and challenges change as you progress, while the upgrade system gives you opportunities to improve your chances of surviving later levels.

The game supports one or two players simultaneously, making it possible to enjoy the arcade action cooperatively as well as on your own. The Commodore 64 version uses a joystick connected to Port 2.
